Sierra Leone is located Western Africa, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, between Guinea and Liberia. The climate is tropical; hot, humid; summer rainy season (May to December); winter dry season (December to April). The terrain is coastal belt of mangrove swamps, wooded hill country, upland plateau, mountains in east.

DWT or dead weight tonnage is the total weight of cargo, plus bunkers, stores, etc., that a ship can carry when immersed to the appropriate load line.
